Sync local & remote files without flying blind.

Grid Transit is a visual SFTP/FTP/FTPS client that shows you exactly what changed before you sync — side-by-side diffs, three-way conflict merging, and a full transfer history. Built for developers who deploy over plain file transfer and are tired of guessing.

About the project

Not just another FTP client.

Classic FTP clients show you two file trees and let you drag files between them — but they don't tell you what actually changed, and they definitely won't help you when the same file was edited on both sides. Grid Transit was built to close that gap.

It scans both directories, classifies every file (new, modified, deleted, or in conflict), lets you inspect real line-by-line diffs before committing to a transfer, and gives you a proper merge editor when local and remote genuinely disagree — instead of silently overwriting one side.

  • Built with React, Vite, Node/Express and Monaco Editor — packaged as a native Windows desktop app with Electron.
  • 100% free, no telemetry, no account — your credentials stay on your machine.
  • Open source under the MIT license — read, modify, or embed it in your own workflow.

Features

Everything you need to sync with confidence

Side-by-Side Diff Viewer

Inspect exact line-level differences between your local and remote file versions using a full Monaco-powered diff editor before you sync anything.

Conflict Merge Editor

When both sides changed, resolve it properly with a git-style conflict editor instead of blindly picking "local wins" or "remote wins."

SFTP, FTP & FTPS

Connect to any host over SSH-based SFTP, plain FTP, or encrypted FTPS — with per-profile credentials saved locally.

Smart Exclusion Filters

Keep node_modules, .git, build output and other noise out of every scan with simple wildcard patterns.

Selective Bulk Sync

Filter by changed, conflicting or synced files, tick exactly what you want, and execute uploads, downloads and deletions in one batch.

Full Transfer History

Every upload, download and deletion is logged with timestamp, size and result — a real audit trail for what happened to your server.

Use Cases

Built for real deployment workflows

Shared-hosting web developers

Push PHP/HTML/CSS changes to a live cPanel or shared host without a full IDE deploy pipeline — see exactly what's different first.

Freelancers & agencies

Manage multiple client sites and connection profiles, and safely reconcile a client's manual server edits before overwriting them.

Staging ↔ production comparisons

Diff a staging directory against production before a release to catch drift, forgotten files, or unintended changes.

Teams editing the same server

When more than one person can touch the remote files directly, Grid Transit's conflict detection stops silent overwrites.
